A local grocer with a wide range of gourmet products, everyday products, snacks and a great bottle shop. Prices are often cheaper than the larger supermarkets and they have many great specials. They truly live up to their name of being the Friendly Grocer. All the staff are kind, welcoming and friendly. Special mention to the lovely Bella who made me feel like a million dollars with her act of kindness and the charming Luca with his infectious smile and laughter.

We spend a few months of the year in South Melbourne. We shop here. It’s better value than the BIG 2. And they are nice people. If in the area don’t shop anywhere else.
Really friendly staff, always happy to help. Affordable prices. There is a surcharge on eftpos, but it's only 0.20c which is quite fair considering it is a smaller place. All in all, it's a great supermarket that is conveniently placed if you work on south Melbourne. 3 minutes walk from kings garden.
Hands down the best grocery store in town, and their liquor selection is absolutely awesome! The shelves are always stocked with a diverse and carefully curated selection, perfect for every occasion. The staff is knowledgeable and always willing to offer great recommendations. True transformation since the new owners took over! The difference is night and day—everything is so much better now. The store is cleaner, brighter, and more organized, making it a joy to shop here. The variety and quality of products have improved significantly, especially in the fresh produce and specialty items. You can really tell that the new owners care about both the store and their customers. The customer service has also been top-notch, with friendly and helpful staff always ready to assist. It's clear that the new management has made a world of difference. I highly recommend this place for all your shopping needs! :)
Being a part time resident I come a lot to Southbank and my favourite place which has all the goodies I need to make my stay comfortable and stress free is South Melbourne Friendly Grocer. Lots of alcohol (try Gossips red and white wine - well priced and available) to choose from and all the necessities to ensure you have plenty for a night in or when the munchies take hold. Helpful staff and fully stocked shelves.
